Brown / Chocolate

Brown or Chocolate as it is most commonly referred to, includes all shades from the darkest chocolate to the lightest milk chocolate. Dark chocolate is a rich dark candy color that is self-colored throughout. Light chocolate is more milk chocolate, occasionally appearing with lighter shadings. The are entered in the Black, Brown, Blue or BBB class at specialties and the National. Some all-breed clubs may also divide classes by color. They are registered with AKC as chocolate.

True chocolate/brown cannot have black pigment or hair ANYWHERE on their body. A dog which has any black in its coat or points is not a chocolate/brown.

 

Eye rims, nose, lips and foot pads are brown.

Cream

The solid variation of brown is throughout the coat. They are born solid brown all over. They can range from a lighter brown to a very dark brown. Some reddening or “sun burning” of the coat may appear in dogs that spend time outdoors.
